The feature of hiding likes on Instagram has finally become available. The testing period for users in different countries has lasted for almost two years. According to the company’s official notice, it was aimed at drawing users’ attention to photos and videos on Instagram rather than the number of likes. Users often become addicted to likes and feel bad if they think they don’t have enough likes.
Now, one more option is available for users. If you want, you can hide likes under your post as well as under posts of other accounts (this function applies to all posts on your feed).
How to hide the likes of a published post
- Go to your Instagram account and select the post to which you want to apply the hide likes feature;
- Click on the three dots sign in the top right corner of the screen;
- In the menu that appears, select the Hide the number of likes option;
- If you hide likes under a video, the number of views will become hidden as well.
How to hide likes before posting
- Before adding a post to your feed, go to the Advanced settings section (at the very bottom of the screen);
- Choose “Hide the number of likes and views for this publication”;
- The new feature is enabled now.
How to hide likes on the feed
If you don’t want to see the number of likes under posts on your feed, you can enable this feature in your account settings. To do this, you need to:
- Log into your Instagram account and click on the Main Menu icon in the top right corner of the screen;
- In the drop-down menu, choose “Settings”;
- Next, select “Privacy”;
- Then click on “Posts”;
- Enable the “Hide Like and View Counts” feature;
After hiding likes, the feed will show you content based on your interests, not on the number of likes.
Soon, Facebook, the company that owns Instagram, plans to launch a similar feature of hiding likes.
